Bitcoin Price Prediction: Is the Rally Over? Analyzing This Week’s Crucial Performance
Bitcoin (BTC) recently dipped below a key support level, sparking concerns about the future of its price discovery rally. This week’s performance will be pivotal in determining the cryptocurrency’s next major move, according to a leading analyst.
A Bull Flag’s Fate?
Over the weekend, Bitcoin broke its three-week trading range, plummeting to a low of $112,296 on August 3rd. Prior to this, it had consolidated between $114,000 and $120,000 since its early July breakout, reaching an all-time high of $122,838 during that rally. While experiencing some volatility towards the end of July, retesting range lows twice, Bitcoin failed to recover its previous momentum, losing the crucial support on August 1st.
Analyst Rekt Capital highlighted the formation of a bull flag on the weekly chart. This pattern’s lows served as support until the recent weekly close. This week’s price action will be critical in determining whether the pattern’s bottom, around $117,200, transforms into resistance, confirming a breakdown, or if Bitcoin recovers. A successful reclaim would suggest a ‘fake’ downside correction, while failure would signal a bearish retest, potentially targeting $112,000.
Price Discovery Uptrend 2: To Continue or Not?
Rekt Capital emphasizes that this week’s performance will dictate the future of Bitcoin’s second Price Discovery uptrend, now entering its fifth week. Reclaiming the bull flag would signal continuation, while a breakdown would signify a prematurely ended uptrend. Historically, this second uptrend slows around weeks 5-6, peaking within a ‘danger zone’. Failure to close above the pattern’s bottom would imply the second Price Discovery uptrend ended far earlier than expected, contradicting historical trends.
Macro Outlook and Potential Third Uptrend
Despite the current uncertainty, the analyst suggests Bitcoin still has ample time for a third Price Discovery uptrend. Should the second phase conclude prematurely, a subsequent uptrend might overcompensate for the current underperformance. The duration of any corrective phase will play a crucial role in determining the likelihood of a third uptrend before the onset of a bear market.
