FTX Bankruptcy Estate Targets SkyBridge Capital in New Lawsuit
The FTX bankruptcy estate has filed a lawsuit against SkyBridge Capital, the investment firm founded by Anthony Scaramucci, alleging that the firm received millions of dollars in illicit funds from the collapsed cryptocurrency exchange. The lawsuit, filed in Delaware bankruptcy court, claims that SkyBridge received these funds through a series of transactions involving Alameda Research, FTX’s sister trading firm. The complaint alleges that SkyBridge knew or should have known that the funds it received from Alameda were derived from illegal activities, including misappropriation of customer funds. It also alleges that SkyBridge benefited from the collapse of FTX, which led to a significant drop in the value of its own investments.
The lawsuit is the latest development in the ongoing saga of the FTX collapse, which has sent shockwaves through the cryptocurrency industry. The bankruptcy estate has been aggressively pursuing claims against individuals and entities that it believes contributed to the exchange’s downfall. In addition to SkyBridge, the estate has filed lawsuits against former FTX executives, including Sam Bankman-Fried, and the cryptocurrency exchange’s former auditor, Deloitte. SkyBridge has denied any wrongdoing, claiming that it was an innocent victim of FTX’s fraud. The firm has said that it will vigorously defend itself against the lawsuit. It remains to be seen whether the bankruptcy estate will be successful in its legal pursuit of SkyBridge and other defendants.
