XRP Price Consolidation: Will it Break Above $2.00?

The XRP price has experienced a period of consolidation, failing to decisively break above the key $2.40 resistance level. After a recent pullback from highs near $2.50, the cryptocurrency is currently trading below the $2.30 mark and the 100-hourly Simple Moving Average (SMA). This suggests a bearish sentiment, at least in the short term. Analyzing the hourly chart of the XRP/USD pair (data from Kraken), we observe a developing bearish trend line with resistance around $2.26. This trend line, coupled with the price’s position below the 100-hourly SMA, paints a cautious picture for immediate bullish momentum. However, a decisive break above the $2.32 resistance level could potentially trigger another upward move. The recent decline saw XRP price dip below the $2.30 and $2.25 support levels, ultimately finding a low near $1.989 before recovering somewhat. While the price briefly climbed above the 23.6% Fibonacci retracement level of the recent downward swing, it remains below key resistance levels.

Key Resistance Levels:

  • $2.20
  • $2.25
  • $2.30 (50% Fib retracement)
  • $2.35
  • $2.40
  • $2.55

Key Support Levels:

  • $2.05
  • $2.00
  • $1.88
  • $1.75

Technical Indicators:

The hourly MACD is currently showing bearish momentum, while the RSI is below 50, further reinforcing the bearish bias. A sustained break above the $2.25 resistance zone is crucial for bulls to regain control. Failure to do so could see another decline towards the $2.00 support, and potentially even lower levels.

The $2.00 Psychological Barrier:

The $2.00 level holds significant psychological importance. A break below this level could trigger further selling pressure and accelerate the downward momentum. Conversely, a successful break above the $2.30 resistance could signal a shift in sentiment, potentially paving the way for a renewed rally towards higher price targets.
