Bitcoin Price Analysis: Cautious Optimism as BTC Consolidates Near $90K

Bitcoin’s (BTC) realized market cap hit a record high of $872 billion, yet on-chain data reveals a surprising lack of investor enthusiasm. Glassnode’s recent X post highlighted a concerningly low monthly growth rate of just 0.9%, suggesting a prevailing risk-off sentiment.

The realized cap, representing the total value of Bitcoin at its last moved price, offers a unique lens into Bitcoin’s economic activity. This sluggish growth indicates reduced capital inflow, potentially due to fewer new investors or decreased activity from existing holders.

Further fueling caution is a sharp 40% drop in Glassnode’s realized profit and loss chart, a strong indicator of substantial profit-taking or loss realization. Glassnode interprets this as market saturation and a likely precursor to a consolidation phase.

Meanwhile, CryptoQuant data reveals a concerning short-term realized price of $91,600. With BTC trading below this level, many short-term holders are underwater, potentially leading to increased selling pressure if they choose to cut losses. This is supported by the short-term holder market value to realized value (MVRV) ratio remaining below 1, historically a signal of buying opportunities, but also confirming losses among short-term holders.

Diverging Trader Sentiment: A significant divergence exists between US and Korean traders. The Coinbase premium, a measure of US trading activity, recently surged, pointing to robust US demand. Conversely, the Kimchi premium index declined, showing less involvement from Korean retail traders.

This disparity mirrors Bitcoin’s price action, which has oscillated within a tight range ($85,440-$82,750) since April 11. While short-term support exists on the 4-hour chart from key moving averages, the daily chart presents resistance to bullish momentum.
