Bitcoin Surges Past $116,000: New All-Time High!

Bitcoin (BTC) has just shattered its previous all-time high, rocketing past the $116,000 mark! This significant surge follows a sustained period of upward momentum, with the price decisively breaking through several key resistance levels. The cryptocurrency has shown incredible strength, leaving many analysts scrambling to update their forecasts.

The rally began with a decisive break above the $110,500 resistance, swiftly gaining traction to surpass $112,000 and then $113,500. Technical analysis reveals a clean break above a crucial bearish trendline at $111,000 on the hourly chart (Kraken data), confirming the bullish sentiment. This positive momentum propelled BTC beyond the $115,000 resistance, culminating in a new all-time high at $116,800.

Currently, the price is consolidating above the 23.6% Fibonacci retracement level of the recent upward move, suggesting a potential continuation of the rally. However, immediate resistance remains near $116,000, with further hurdles at $116,200 and $116,800. A sustained close above $116,800 could trigger further gains, potentially pushing Bitcoin towards $118,000, $118,800, and ultimately, the highly anticipated $120,000 milestone.

Potential Downside Correction?

While the outlook is bullish, a failure to break above $116,800 could initiate a downside correction. Key support levels to watch are $115,300, $113,700 (50% Fib retracement), and $113,200. A significant breakdown below $112,500 could signal a more substantial retreat to the $110,500 support.

Technical Indicators

The hourly MACD is firmly in bullish territory, reinforcing the positive momentum. The hourly RSI for BTC/USD is also above 50, indicating bullish strength. This combination of price action and technical indicators paints a generally optimistic short-term outlook for Bitcoin.
