Bitcoin Whales and Sharks Fueling Another Bull Run?

Recent on-chain data reveals a significant trend: Bitcoin’s largest investors, the so-called “whales” and “sharks,” are accumulating BTC at an impressive rate. This activity has led many analysts to speculate about a potential new all-time high.

Santiment, a leading on-chain analytics firm, highlighted this trend in a recent post on X. Their data focuses on investors holding between 10 and 10,000 BTC – a range representing significant capital, from $1 million to $1 billion at current prices. These investors wield considerable influence over the market, and their actions are closely watched by traders.

The chart below, provided by Santiment, showcases the recent surge in supply accumulation by these large holders. Notice the upward trend, indicating an expansion of their Bitcoin holdings.

Over the past month, these whales and sharks have added approximately 83,100 BTC to their wallets. This accumulation wasn’t entirely consistent; there was a period of selling earlier in the month, likely profit-taking after BTC’s rally beyond $97,000. However, they’ve since resumed buying, surpassing their previous peak holdings. The absence of further profit-taking is considered a bullish signal.

Interestingly, smaller investors holding less than 0.1 BTC have been selling, potentially suggesting a divergence in market sentiment. This contrast between large and small investors adds another layer of intrigue to the current situation.

Considering the sustained accumulation by whales and sharks, and the recent easing of US-China trade tensions, Santiment suggests a Bitcoin price breaching $110,000 is a significant possibility.
