Bitcoin’s 91% Profitable Supply: Bull Market Zenith or Impending Correction?

Bitcoin’s persistent attempts to breach the $95,000 barrier have investors on edge, searching for clues to its next move. While the digital asset has yet to decisively break this resistance level, a remarkable 91% of the total Bitcoin supply is currently in profit—a phenomenon market analysts term the “euphoria phase.”

This surge in profitable holdings, observed amidst a recent market rebound and confirmed by CryptoQuant data, has sparked considerable debate. Technical expert Darkfost highlights that exceeding 90% profitable supply often marks the final stage of a bull market, historically preceding substantial price increases before a correction.

Easing Market Pressure: The high percentage of profitable Bitcoin holdings significantly reduces the pressure on investors to sell, even during periods of uncertainty. This could bolster Bitcoin’s price stability around $95,000 and potentially fuel further price appreciation. Analysts believe this reduced selling pressure frequently precedes substantial price movements.

Bold Price Predictions: The optimistic market sentiment is reflected in ambitious price predictions. While Standard Chartered forecasts a $120,000 Bitcoin by Q2 2025, others envision prices reaching $200,000 to $250,000 before year-end, even as Bitcoin currently trades just below the key $95,000 level.

Historical Caution: Euphoria’s Shadow: Despite the bullish outlook, historical patterns offer a word of caution. CryptoQuant points out that past bull cycles have shown consistent corrections following periods of extreme profitability. Previous cycles have seen the profitable supply drop to around 50%, a hallmark of bear markets.

CryptoQuant CEO Ki Youn Ju notes that these “euphoria phases” typically last three to twelve months before a market correction ensues. The current cycle’s prolonged growth has pushed profitable holdings to levels signaling both enticing opportunities and potential risks.

A Critical Juncture: With 91% of Bitcoin currently profitable, the market stands at a critical juncture. The coming months will test whether bullish projections or historical trends will prevail, as investors closely monitor the $95,000 resistance and the potential for a significant price spike before a correction.
