Bitcoin’s $91,000 Hurdle: A Make-or-Break Moment?

Bitcoin’s $91,000 Hurdle: A Make-or-Break Moment?

Bitcoin’s price action has been relatively subdued recently, with only a modest 0.95% gain over the past week. After a strong rally in mid-April, the leading cryptocurrency has consolidated within a tight range between $85,000 and $86,000. But according to prominent crypto analyst Ali Martinez, a significant roadblock looms.

The $91,000 Resistance Wall

Martinez pinpoints $91,275 as a critical resistance level for Bitcoin. This figure corresponds to the realized price of Bitcoin’s short-term holders (STH) – those who acquired their BTC within the past 155 days. This metric provides valuable insight into market sentiment.

The STH realized price acts as a key indicator. When the market price surpasses the STH realized price, it signals bullish momentum, as recent buyers are profitable and likely to hold. Conversely, when the market price falls below the STH realized price, as it currently does, it creates substantial psychological resistance. Many short-term holders might choose to break even by selling, increasing downward pressure around that price point.

What Does This Mean for Bitcoin?

Bitcoin’s recent price movement, confined between $84,000 and $86,000, highlights the significance of this $91,275 resistance. Breaking above this level is crucial to confirm a strong bullish trend and fuel a sustained price upswing. Failure to do so could signal further consolidation or even a price correction.

Immediate Outlook

At the time of writing, Bitcoin is trading around $84,872. Immediate support rests at $84,500, while immediate resistance sits at $86,000. Overcoming this immediate resistance could pave the way for a move towards $91,000. However, falling below the $84,500 support could lead to a further drop, potentially reaching as low as $83,300.

The coming days will be pivotal. Whether Bitcoin can overcome the psychological barrier of the STH realized price at $91,000 will determine the short-term trajectory of the king of cryptocurrencies.
