Bitcoin’s Short-Term Ceiling: $117,000 According to Glassnode
On-chain analytics firm Glassnode has identified a key short-term price band for Bitcoin, with the upper limit currently sitting at a significant $117,000. This observation is based on the behavior of short-term holders (STHs), defined as investors who acquired their Bitcoin within the last 155 days.
Glassnode’s analysis centers on the STH Realized Price, which represents the average cost basis for this group. When the Realized Price exceeds the spot price, STHs are collectively in unrealized profit. Conversely, a lower Realized Price indicates net unrealized losses. The firm’s chart showcases the STH Realized Price alongside standard deviation bands.
For the past six months, Bitcoin’s price has remarkably oscillated within the ±1 standard deviation band of the STH Realized Price. Because STHs often react swiftly to market fluctuations, this metric can influence price movements. While not acting as absolute support or resistance, the Realized Price has demonstrably impacted Bitcoin’s short-term trajectory.
Currently, Bitcoin trades above the STH Realized Price, having rebounded from it last month. The upcoming resistance level is the +1 standard deviation, approximately $117,000. Whether Bitcoin will breach this ceiling remains to be seen.
Bitcoin’s recent price surge of over 3% has pushed its value to $109,500. The $117,000 mark presents a crucial short-term test for the cryptocurrency’s momentum.
