Bitcoin’s Weekly PPO Flashes Red: Is the Bull Run Over at $102,000?
Crypto markets are buzzing after renowned analyst Tony Severino revealed a critical shift in Bitcoin’s Percentage Price Oscillator (PPO). The weekly PPO has turned red, hitting the $102,000 mark—a signal Severino previously associated with the culmination of Bitcoin bull runs. This raises significant questions about the future trajectory of the flagship cryptocurrency.
Severino’s previous warnings regarding the weekly PPO turning red painted a picture of impending market correction. His analysis suggested that the current bull run could end shortly after the indicator turns red, with the price continuing its upward trend only until the red indicator runs its course. This is supported by the TD Sequential indicator which points towards a potential Bitcoin peak between Q1 and Q2 of this year, mirroring the 2017 bull run’s termination after a perfected TD9 count. History, if repeated, could see Bitcoin peaking as early as July.
While Severino acknowledges the possibility of the bull market extending beyond Q2 should the TD8/9 setup fail, he cautions against expecting prolonged upward momentum without substantial correction. He previously predicted Bitcoin could top below $150,000 as early as January 20th, citing Donald Trump’s inauguration as a potential catalyst.
Contrasting Opinions and Current Market Sentiment
Despite Severino’s bearish signals, other analysts offer contrasting perspectives. Titan of Crypto, for example, believes a Bitcoin price increase is imminent following a seven-week consolidation period. Mikybull Crypto shares a similarly bullish sentiment, arguing that Bitcoin’s recent surge above $100,000 has invalidated earlier bearish predictions and paves the way for a sustained rally.
As of this writing, Bitcoin trades around $101,677, demonstrating a 2% increase within the past 24 hours (according to CoinMarketCap). The conflicting signals necessitate close monitoring of both technical indicators and market sentiment to gauge the accuracy of both bullish and bearish predictions.
