Ethereum Price Consolidation: Awaiting Breakout Above $1620

Ethereum (ETH) has recently experienced a period of consolidation after failing to decisively break above the $1650 mark. Following a pullback from its recent high, ETH is currently trading below the $1600 level and the 100-hourly Simple Moving Average. This consolidation follows a break below a short-term contracting triangle pattern identified on the hourly chart, with support initially holding around $1595.

While the immediate outlook appears uncertain, there are key levels to watch. The $1620 level presents significant resistance; a decisive break above this level could initiate a move towards $1650 and potentially higher, potentially reaching $1720 or even $1800 in the short term. Conversely, failure to clear $1620 could trigger a renewed decline, with initial support at $1565 and a stronger support level at $1550. Further downside could see prices test $1500 and even $1450.

Technical indicators offer a mixed signal. The hourly MACD shows bearish momentum building, while the RSI is below the 50 level, suggesting bearish pressure. However, the current consolidation phase could represent a period of accumulation before another price surge.

Traders should closely monitor the price action around the $1620 resistance. A decisive break above this level would significantly alter the short-term outlook. Conversely, sustained trading below $1550 could signal further downside potential.

Key Levels:
Support: $1550, $1500, $1450
Resistance: $1620, $1650, $1720
