Massive TRUMP Token Dump: $8.58 Million Sell-Off Shakes Market

The cryptocurrency market witnessed a dramatic shakeup on May 4th, 2025, as two significant TRUMP token holders offloaded a combined 765,128 tokens, resulting in an $8.58 million sell-off. This swift action caused a significant price plunge, dropping the TRUMP token’s value by over 10% in a matter of hours, from $12 to $10.50 (CoinGecko data).

This sudden sell-off wasn’t just a price drop; it triggered a massive surge in trading volume, spiking nearly 80% to $15.3 million on exchanges like Binance and KuCoin. This volatile activity sent ripples of concern throughout the trading community, prompting fears of further unpredictable market swings.

Whale Losses Despite Prior Gains

Interestingly, these weren’t distressed sellers. Both wallets, 3kjP9L and 7X6Vun, had previously profited from TRUMP token investments. However, this time, their timing proved disastrous. Wallet 3kjP9L, having previously made $196,000, sold 337,560 tokens for $3.80 million, ultimately losing $1.38 million. Similarly, 7X6Vun, after a previous $732,000 profit, sold 427,568 tokens for $4.77 million, incurring a loss of $961,000. This suggests a potential market correction or a shift in investor sentiment.

Hype, Then a Crash?

The TRUMP token had recently experienced a surge in popularity following reports of President Trump offering exclusive gala invitations at his Washington Golf Club to top token holders. This created significant buzz, driving up the price and attracting investors looking for quick profits. However, the massive sell-off casts doubt on the sustainability of this momentum, raising questions about the underlying strength of the market’s belief in the token’s value. Were the gains purely hype-driven?

Trump’s Crypto Portfolio: A $2.9 Billion Stake?

Adding to the intrigue, a recent report by State Democracy Defenders Action estimates that Trump’s cryptocurrency holdings, including TRUMP and MELANIA meme coins and a significant stake in World Liberty Financial (a crypto exchange with Trump family ties), comprise almost 40% of his total net worth, potentially reaching $2.9 billion. World Liberty’s recent $2 billion investment from an Abu Dhabi firm further highlights the intertwined nature of Trump’s financial interests and the cryptocurrency market.

As of this writing, TRUMP trades at $11.18, down 27% in the last seven days. The future remains uncertain, with the potential for further declines or a surprising recovery. The recent events serve as a stark reminder of the volatility inherent in the cryptocurrency market, especially regarding meme coins and assets linked to high-profile figures.
