MicroStrategy’s Bold Bitcoin Buy: 4,020 BTC at Record Highs

MicroStrategy, a leading corporate Bitcoin investor, significantly increased its BTC holdings last week. The company announced the acquisition of 4,020 Bitcoin (BTC) for a total of $427.1 million between May 19th and 23rd, according to a recent SEC filing. This purchase occurred as Bitcoin briefly surpassed $110,000, marking a new all-time high.

This latest acquisition brings MicroStrategy’s total Bitcoin holdings to a staggering 580,250 BTC, obtained at an average price of approximately $69,979 per coin. The average price for this recent purchase was $106,237 per BTC.

Executive Stock Sales and Market Volatility

Interestingly, this significant Bitcoin purchase coincided with the sale of MicroStrategy stock by some key executives. Jarrod Patten, a director at the company, sold 2,650 shares of MSTR between May 16th and 21st, totaling nearly $1.1 million. Andrew Kang, MicroStrategy’s CFO, also sold 2,185 Class A shares on May 23rd, generating $719,447. These sales followed a recent class-action lawsuit alleging securities fraud and contributed to a subsequent 12% decline in MSTR stock price.

Despite the market fluctuations and legal challenges, MicroStrategy’s continued Bitcoin accumulation demonstrates a steadfast commitment to its long-term cryptocurrency investment strategy.

MicroStrategy’s Bitcoin Strategy Remains Strong

This latest purchase reinforces Michael Saylor’s unwavering belief in Bitcoin as a long-term investment. The company’s actions seem to align with Saylor’s previous statement to continuously buy Bitcoin even at peak prices. The resilience of MicroStrategy’s strategy amid recent market volatility and legal scrutiny is noteworthy.
