MicroStrategy’s Massive Bitcoin Buy: $1.34B Investment at $100K+

MicroStrategy, the business intelligence firm led by Michael Saylor, significantly bolstered its Bitcoin holdings. The company recently purchased 13,390 BTC for a staggering $1.34 billion between May 5th and May 11th, as the cryptocurrency briefly surged past the $100,000 mark.
This substantial acquisition, disclosed in a May 12th SEC filing, represents a 2.4% increase in MicroStrategy’s total Bitcoin holdings, bringing the grand total to 568,840 BTC. The average purchase price for this recent batch was $99,856 per Bitcoin, adding to their existing holdings acquired at an average price of $69,287.
This strategic move allowed MicroStrategy to achieve its ambitious Bitcoin yield target for 2025, as announced by Michael Saylor on X (formerly Twitter). The purchase propelled their BTC yield to 15.5%, a key metric representing the percentage change in the ratio between their Bitcoin holdings and assumed diluted shares. Saylor previously stated a goal of maintaining this yield at 15% throughout 2025.
MicroStrategy’s unwavering commitment to Bitcoin, despite market volatility, reinforces its long-term bullish outlook on the cryptocurrency’s potential. This significant investment underscores the company’s belief in Bitcoin’s value and its strategic positioning within the evolving digital asset landscape.
